PSKS held the Health Fair 2017 on 25 March 2017 at Palashipara Government Primary School Campus in association with Tentulbaria Union Council. The Deputy Commissioner of Meherpur Parimol Singh opened the fair as the Chief Guest. Md. Mosharrof Hossain, the Executive Director of PSKS delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Halida Hanum Aktar, the Chief of Party of NHSDP, was present in the fair as a Special Guest. Besides, Md. Jahangir Alom, the Chairman of Tentulbaria UP, Md. Ramjan Ali, the Headmaster of Tentulbaria Islamia High School, Md. Nazmul Huda, the former Chairman of Tentulbaria UP, Mohammad Ali, Councilor of District Council and Md. Khalilur Rahman, DM-BE of Save the Children, delivered speeches in the Discussion Session.
Different projects of PSKS and other organizations displayed their programs in stalls. Besides, health services and materials, early stimulation, Early Childhood and Care (EECD), School Health & Nutrition, Adolescent Development were displayed in the fair. DC Parimal Singh, Dr. Halida Hanum Aktar and others visited the stalls and highly applauded the programs. The Deputy Commissioner said in his speech that the average of Bangladeshi people has increased, people are getting health services from community clinics. However, maternity death is still high in our country. The main reason behind is early marriage which we need to stop.
Dr. Halida Hanum Aktar Said, “A pregnant mother is required to be checked up for four times. Baby delivery should never be done at home. There are 400 Smiling Sun clinics in the country to provide health services. The main objective is to lower down maternity death. We need to stop early marriage. The victim girls of child marriage become high risk mothers. There should be an span of four years between giving birth of two children by a mother.”
The Chief Guest Parimal Singh and Dr. Halida Hanum inaugurated Reproductive Health Service at Tentulbaria Islamia High School.
The first anniversary of Child Marriage Free Meherpur has been observed in Mherpur on 27 February 2017 in a view to keep combating against child marriage and to create public awareness against the dire demerits of child marriage. Palashipara Samaj Kallayan Samity observed this day at all High Schools and UPs of Gangni and Mujibnagar Upazila in association with the district and Upazila administration. The observation ceremony includes rally, discussion sessions and dramma show to create awareness among students, guardians and general people about the deadly demerits of child marriage.
Mark Tylor, Country Director, Save the Children in Bangladesh, visited PSKS and the activities of the organization on 07 September 2007. Istiaq Mannan. the Deputy Country Director, M. Habibur Rahman, Senior Education Advisor, Hosneara Khondker, Program Director-Shishuder Jonno and Md. Farooque Hossain, Senior Manager, Save the Children, Meherpur Project Office, accompanied him during his visit. At the beginning of his visit, Mr. Tylorvisited the field activities of SCI funded Shishuder Jonno project at Shishirpara GPS, Changara-Fotaipur GPS and Shaharbati Community Clinic.Then he visited PSKS Headquarter and visited the demo arrangement of activities and materials of diffrent projects of the organization in the conference room at the ground floor. Then a short meeting was held with PSKS Executive Director, EC members and Senior staffs. The Executive Director described to him how PSKS was formed and developed at diffrent phases from beginning till date. At the end, the Executive Director gifted Mark Tylor, Istiaq Mannan, M. Habibur Rahman and Hosneara Khondker with crests.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2016 was held on 23 July 2016. The meeting was presided over by the President of PSKS and the executive Director played the role of
moderator. The AGM was participated by local government representatives, NGO representative, donor representative, beneficiaries representatives and project heads of
PSKS. The AGM started with reciting from the Holy Quran. Them, the participants introduced themselves. The project heads presented the achievement during the last
fiscal year and targets for the next year. Previous years activities and expenditures and next years plans and budget were approved by the General Body of PSKS.
At the end, the invited guests gave speech in the AGM. It was a lively and successful AGM.
